Of all printing techniques, screen printing has the longest history. Admittedly, experts are divided where and when it was first used. Some suggest ancient China or Egypt, others point to fourth century India.
A computer printout or silk-screen print is applied to paper or transfer foil, which is then welded into the fabric. Various types of foil allow you to achieve effects unattainable for direct printing, from metallic colors to the possibility of dyeing polyester fibers.
A very popular technique, used primarily for thicker materials, e.g. polo shirts, fleece, sweatshirts, jackets, bags or caps. In order to prevent the material from tearing off, an additional fleece backing is used. Embroidery is best done on patterns - it is easier then to stretch the fabric over a special hoop.
